I'm sure that Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil ain't unfamiliar to you girls. In fact, it is the first cleansing oil that I purchased and have repurchased a few times when I first started applying makeup.

The regular packaging of Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil is green in color which probably wouldn't catch your attention. But how can you not fall in love with Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil in Limited Edition 'Cupid' design by Japanese Textile Designer, Masaru Suzuki?

Its so floral, girlie and it is in pink! Everything that spells girly!

Directions:

Pump 2 times (or about 50-cent coin size) on dry palms. Smooth oil over face and gently message into makeup. Rinse thoroughly with water.

And now we put 3 different point make up (mascara, gel liner and lipstick) that I use on a regular basis to the test!

I poured a drop of Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil on top of the mascara, gel liner and lipstick swatches and massaged in circular motions as shown in the picture on the left below. For Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil, less is more. You only need a bit of the product and it is enough to cleanse your face.

After rinsing with water, almost all traces of makeup were gone! To be safe, always follow up with your regular cleanser.

Christmas Presents and Recent Hauls

I know the first thing that you probably gonna say is, "Christmas Presents during February? You gotta be kidding me!"

I had wanted to blog about this earlier but somehow it just slipped off my mind.

Last Christmas, coincidentally, I received beauty and skincare products as well as fragrance from my family and my boss.

Elizabeth Arden perfume set

This is a gift from my Aunt.

It contains Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Eau De Parfum, Pretty Elizabeth Erden Eau De Parfum and Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue Parfum.

While I have tried any perfume from Elizabeth Arden before, I think that this is a good way to try out different type of perfume from Elizabeth Erden! Who doesn't love variety? I love variety for sure!

Coincidentally, another Aunt of mine gave me Lanvin Rumeur Eau De Parfum.

I have yet to open up any of the fragrances as I still have about 5 fragrances that are opened and I haven't finished using them.

Word of caution: it's not advisable to open up a few fragrance at one go because they tend to lose their smell after a while.

The next item is Moringa Gift Cube from The Body Shop. This is from my boss.

My first impression of this gift cube is that Moringa smells really good.

My only concern would be whether it would make my skin dry as previously, The Body Shop Mango Shower Gel left my skin feeling a little dry after each bath.

The 3 products below are from my cousins, Li Xuan and Li Bing. And all of them are Korean skincare which is my favourite! Yays!

Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 90% Soothing Gel

This aloe vera gel from Nature Republic is highly-raved by Si Ling. She said that it is really gentle on the skin and yet it doesn't break a big hole in your pocket.

I have yet to open this out to try because I haven't finish my current aloe vera gel from Fruit of the Earth. But so far, the best aloe vera gel that I have used is from Jorubi but it is slightly more pricey.

I still remember the first time that I got aloe vera gel was to tame the redness of the pimples on my face. I came to know about the goodness of aloe vera gel after reading that Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel (a holy grail of mine) contains aloe vera gel and after doing the maths, I realised that it would be more economical to get aloe vera gel as it would last longer compared to Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel. I was still a student back then and every penny counts.

While I haven't tried Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 90% Soothing Gel, I am sold about its goodness because almost everyone that have tried them couldn't stop raving about how good it is.

Tony Moly Dual Effect Sleeping Pack Intense Repair

The second item that I received from them is a sleeping pack! Yet another back up of my favourite sleeping pack from Tony Moly! Not only it brightens up my skin, I feel that it kinda tightens my pores too.

Got this when I went to the Kanebo sale with Abi and she got a bottle of it too! If I didn't remember wrongly, I only paid $12 for it!

Veet Rasera Bladeless Kit

Got this along with my Mom's holy grail moisturizer from Olay as well as my contact lenses solution when I went to Watsons sale sometime in late December with Joanna. And to think that nothing was on sale except for my Mom's Olay moisturizer. -.-" It was also the first time that I met Michelle!

I'm actually thinking of doing a post on my Mom's favourite skincare. What do you all think? Yay or nay?

Sasa Haul

If there's one place that I have to ban myself from going, it has got to be Sasa. I never fail to leave Sasa without purchasing at least one facial mask.

To think that my intention was to get some makeup sponges since I threw away my Manicare makeup wedges due to wear and tear.

Neogence Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Mask

If you have been following my blog closely enough, you would have known that I love Neogence products especially Neogence Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make Up Serum, http://sweetestsins.blogspot.com/2011/06/last-weeks-haul-benefits-of-avocado-for.html.

I usually don't use 2 way cake foundation unless I am in a rush because it tends to make my face look patchy/dry. However, if I apply Neogence Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make Up Serum prior to 2 way cake foundation, it doesn't make my face look cakey which I love!

Back to Neogence Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Mask, I just love this facial mask. It is so moisturizing and it plumps up my skin. In fact, it reminds me very much of Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion, http://sweetestsins.blogspot.com/2010/06/not-so-recent-haul.html except that the texture is much lighter than Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion.

The other mask that I got from Sasa is:

Montvert Whitening Facial Essence Mask Pack

Got this because I was drawn to the word 'essence' and the ampoule picture on the facial mask pack as well as because its WHITENING! You should know by now that I am very into whitening products.

Quite a fair bit of people have asked me, "Why are you so into whitening products for your face? What about your body? Won't it look weird if your face is fairer than the rest of your body?" Well well well, to answer all of you at one go, whitening products doesn't make you fairer overnight! In fact, I have been using whitening products religiously for almost one year, all that I have noticed is brighter and more even skintone. And no, the color of my face doesn't differ much from my neck such that its of two different colors. Even for the strongest whitening product that I have used, at the very most, the whitening effect lasts for one day.

I have yet to use Montvert Whitening Facial Essence Mask Pack as I am experiencing a slight breakout at the moment. Normally when I have breakouts, I try to steer clear of whitening products because the ingredients are normally quite rich and moisturizing which tends to trigger more breakouts. Whenever I have breakouts, I usually use facials masks such as My Scheming Diary Herbal Anti-acne Mask or My Beauty Diary Aloe Vera Mask to tame the redness and dry those spots.

The last item that I got from Sasa during my recent Sasa Haul is:

Belle Madame Make Up Sponge Puff

Belle Madame is the brand that has Belle Madame All in One Blender Sponge which is similiar to Beauty Blender.

I usually use make up sponge wedges from Manicare to apply my foundation but it wasn't available at Sasa Causeway Point hence I bought Belle Madame Make Up Sponge Puff instead which was something that is in between Belle Madame All in One Blender Sponge and normal make up wedge as it is in the shape of an egg.

It took me a while to get used to it as its much bulkier than normal make up sponge wedge. But I really like how the tip of it allows me to reach my undereye areas, the sides of my nose and my mouth and it makes application so much easier!

The crack polish was only $5 bucks and the glitter polish was only $3! Such a steal, isn't it?

Nivea Body Lotion Whitening Night

Got this from Swanston over at People's Park, Chinatown when I went there for some pre-Chinese New Year shopping with my Mom.

Got this again because I still prefer this compared to other body lotion because it is easy to absorb and its rather moisturizing plus it makes me fairer after prolonged usage. And best of all - it doesn't have that stickiness feeling after application.

Got these RMK products last December when I was out with Emily. She was very kind to share with me her 20% birthday discount for members upon knowing that I want to get the creamy base.

Check out the exterior of RMK packaging! It says Open up, Choose me, Take me. Seems that the marketing team are playing the game of consumer behaviour huh?

I have been using this RMK Creamy Polished Base 02 in place of my Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base, http://sweetestsins.blogspot.com/2011/12/chanel-makeup-haul-review.html and I dare say that I am loving it!

Pros:

- Tinted = more coverage
- Help foundation glide on better
- Make my face look very smooth
- Keeps makeup mat (only require blotting once on the nose area for the whole day) and longer-lasting

Cons:
- Have to use more compared to the amount when I use Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base

Apart from that, I caved in and bought RMK Gel Emulsion Compact. Its a gel foundation and its texture is somewhat like a BB cream pact.

I have yet to open this so I will leave the review till next time.

Hankook Cosmetics: Ossion and Ekanava

Hi lovelies, today I'm gonna share with you a few new favourites of mine from Hankook Cosmetics.

If you're quick enough, you should be able to spot them from the picture above.

Thought that I would provide some information on Hankook Cosmetics for those whom are unfamiliar with this brand.

About Hankook Cosmetics

Under Hankook Cosmetics, they have Ossion, Sansim, Beautri, Ekanava, Idem, Flannche and Carri just to name a few brands. Sansim is No. 1 in Korea and very popular with Indonesians while Ossion is no. 1 for export.

Hankook Cosmetics does OEM which means that they do R&D for other companies whom wish to launch new skincare or makeup. Apart from that, They also have agreements on technical cooperation with Juju Cosmetics in Japan as well as Loreal and Lancome in France. They are also the first to use Ginseng as one of the ingredients in their skincare and cosmetics line, Sansim. Ginseng has healing properties.

Here are the products that I received from Hankook Cosmetics.

There were actually more samples but I gave some of them out to my family and friends. My Mommy is currently using the Time Curator Eye Cream, Toner and Emulsion sample from the Time Curator series.

While I have yet to try out all of the products given, I must say that I am very pleased with those that I have tried! I will be giving out some samples at the end of this post so make sure you stay right till the end.

For now, I'm going to share with you a few products from Hankook Cosmetics that I have been using recently which are my current favourites!

The first product would be:

Ossion Mild Touch Bubble Mask

This is like a massage pack to me. I use this about 3-4 times a week at night after cleansing and toning. Because I desire a V-shaped face and I want my jawline to be more obvious, I would massage my face in upward motions from the chin area.

Word of caution - you have to be really quick when you massage your face using Ossion Mild Touch Bubble Mask because it will form bubbles rather quickly.

Tip: Let Ossion Mild Touch Bubble Mask foam on your T-zone but don't let it foam on your face before you massage it.

You can rinse it off after you see the bubbles forming on your face. I usually let it on for about 2 minutes before rinsing it off.

My thoughts:

After using Ossion Mild Touch Bubble Mask, I feel that my skin feels very smooth after that. I also realised that my pores appears to be smaller. Apart from that, it makes my skin so much brighter! Besides, this smells really good and I really like the scent of it!

Tried this on my mom at one of the weekly facials that I did for her and she loved it! She was so amazed at the bubbles forming after application.

Before I forget, after the bubbles form, you could massage the bubbles away and it would form the second time! You could rinse it off after that. This is a little trick that my cousin, Si Ling taught me. She is also a Korean skincare fanatic and yes, she's the one whom introduced me to a whole lot of Korean skincare brands.

The next product that I have incorporated into my daily regimen is..

Ekanava Opening Enhancer

This is not an ordinary primer because... it feels a little bit cooling when you first apply it onto your skin.

I like it because it is non-sticky and that it makes my skin very smooth which ensures a smooth application of foundation thereafter.

It comes in a pump bottle which is more sanitary and easy to use.

And it has got gold flakes in it!

The picture below shows Ekanava Opening Enhancer before spreading it out and after spread it out on my skin.

You would notice that the gold flakes are more visible before I spread out Ekanava Opening Enhancer evenly on my skin. After spreading it out, you could hardly see the gold flakes. All you get is a slight dewy finish.

I usually apply it in the morning in the order of - cleansing > merdel toner > laneige essence > merdel emulsion > sunblock > Ekavana opening enhancer > makeup base > foundation and powder.

I find that Ekanava Opening Enhancer helps to prolong the staying powder of my makeup as I don't have to blot my face that often compared to when I am not using it.

The verdict is - I'm not gonna leave home without Ekanava Opening Enhancer if I know that I'm gonna stay out for the entire day.

Clinique Almost Lipstick

What is it:

An ultra-sheer lip colour that is undeniably flattering on all women.

When I first received this, I thought that it was either a mascara or eyeliner given that it is so slim compared to its other counterparts!

The color that I received is Shy Honey. Initially I was like, "Tell me its not fuschia lip color again?!" If you been following my blog, you would know that makeup artists love to apply fuschia or bright pink lipstick for me.

This is the amount of product that you get with Clinique Almost Lipstick.

As I was saying that my initial thoughts on Clinique Almost Lipstick wasn't exactly very positive even before swatching it. Well, its not that I hate fuschia color, its just that I see myself too often in it so there isn't really an element of surprise.

But... guess what? I was so surprised that Clinique Almost Lipstick in Shy Honey is actually a very sheer color. It took me more than 5 applications to get the swatch that you see below.

As you can see, it contains micro-glittery bits that screams nothing but pretty!

Gosh, my bare lips look horrible! You could see that after applying Clinique Almost Lipstick in Shy Honey, my lips looked more moisturized.

Thought that I would post all 4 lip swatches of Clinique Almost Lipstick in Shy Honey that I took so that you lovelies would have a better idea of how it looks like.

Patricia's thoughts:

The texture of Clinique Almost Lipstick to me is more like a lip balm actually. I love the fact that its rather moisturizing and that it makes my lips look juicy. It is yet another MLBB lip color that is great for work too!

I noticed that Clinique Almost Lipstick shows up better on my lips rather than my arm.

What's more, its so slim that now I have another reason to squeeze in one more lipstick to my makeup pouch!

P&G The Beauty Debate - Super Model Me

Last Tuesday, I met up with my bestie, Carissa before heading to P&G Beauty Debate - Super Model Me held over at Capella Singapore.

As I went there straight from work, I was in a work dress and the first thing that Carissa said to me when she met me was, "Gosh, did you like lose weight or something?" And I was like, "No I didn't. It must the dress that I am wearing because a few of my colleagues complimented on it earlier in the day."

I used to struggle with weight issues when I was younger and even when I managed to lose some weight, I am still very bottom heavy. My figure is pear-shaped and it is rather hard to find clothes that would enhance my pear-shaped figure as most of the clothes out there are made for girls whom are more well-proportioned.

Remember girls, you should always choose clothes that fits you and not the other way round.

Patricia's Tip of the day (for pear-shaped ladies):

1) Go for skirts or dresses with slight A-line cut.
2) Choose a pair of heels that are not stilettos.
3) Avoid tight skirts and trousers.
4) Avoid clinging and light fabrics.

After filling our stomachs, we went to check out Asian stylists' interpretation on Spring / Summer 12 trends directed by Daniel Boey.

They had different styles. Some are more fun and vibrant while the others are more sweet-looking etc.

The model on the far left-hand side reminds me very much of a Grecian Goddess, perhaps a sexier version of it?

I would say that the style (both fashion and hairstyle) of the other two models on the right is very wearable. Lovin' the bob cut of the center model!

Ah, this is very interesting. Did you know that there were artists painting the backdrop on the spot at the event itself? We were behind the backdrop grabbing small bites hence I couldn't snap a picture of it but boy, they were quick!

This particular style is more colorful, vibrant and fun. The style of model in the center reminds me very much of Lady Gaga. Her outfit is so futuristic!

And the other two models at the side reminds me of Jack in the box!

The Angels

The Angels focuses very much on the theme of birds and feathers. I'm lovin' the hair fascinator (Gossip Girl - Blair's term for head dress) on the model at the extreme left, the heavily-detailed neckpiece on the model in the center and the voluminous hair of the model at the right as well as the strand of pearls that she have on!

The next style is very baroque, sophisticated and elegant and it focuses on lace. I find that lace is elegant when worn, provided that you pick out the right piece.

Don't you love the model's head dress?

She's a hot favourite that night. A lot of people were waiting to get photos with her because she's really hot. I mean, look at how tall and slender she is! I look like I'm thrice her size! Love how she can carry off the red lipstick look.

This booth is so pretty that Carissa and I couldn't help but to take a few pictures in it!

Allure Beauty Saloon: The Wonder Lash Experience

Sometime ago, I went over to Allure Beauty Saloon to get eyelash extensions done.

My beauty therapist is Elaine. She's very nice and she commented that I have got rather long eyelashes actually. But the thing is - even though I have got long lashes, they are straight and they face downwards so the only way to make them appear bigger would be to apply mascara or use false eyelashes. Now, who has got time to put on false eyelashes everyday? Well, certainly not me because the last thing that I want would be to wake up earlier just to make sure that I have got time to apply false eyelashes. I mean, that's because every minute of beauty sleep counts, doesn't it?

The Wonder Lash is developed by a Korean veteran in the beauty industry. It combines 2 – 3 strands of synthetic hairs and only fills in the empty parts of one’s eyelashes. This ensures that the eyelash extension would be firm, yet comfortable at the same time. The extensions would be customised according to the length and thickness of your own real eyelashes so as to make it look more natural.

The eyelash extension took about an hour in total. Elaine was very conscientious in the sense that she kept asking me every now and then if my eyes felt uncomfortable.

Before I go on and on, here's an 'after' picture of the eyelash extension.

I chose the end/sides to be longer because I am very used to that look. Normally when I use false eyelashes, I would normally stick them a little lower like how Popteen models usually would. According to Elaine, it protrays a sexier look if your eyelashes is longer at the sides and that Kawaii or dolly look if your eyelashes are longer in the middle.

Oh yes, did you realised that my double eyelid popped out from nowhere? And no I didn't had any double eyelid stickers on, but yet it looks like I have them on.

I normally get a lot of questions such as what brand, what color is my contact lens, where did I get them and how much is it etc. So, I thought that I would share the answers here.

The current contact lens that I'm wearing is - Canis Circle Artic in Gray which my cousin got it for me from an optical shop in Korea (I have no idea where is it because I have never been there personally). Its probably less than SGD$10 per pair if I didn't remember it wrongly. They are monthly disposables.

Here's a picture of me right away the eyelash extension.

There wasn't any discomfort. Thank God for that! Allure Wonder Lash is very light-weight compared to my previous eyelash extension and I can open my eyes without the extensions pricking my eyes.

Here are some tips which Elaine shared on preserving the lifespan of eyelash extensions:

1) Don't rub ur eyes
2) Use cotton bud to remove eyeliner
3) Be careful when shampooing and washing your face. Try not to let water get into contact with your eyelash extensions.
4) Dry eyelash extensions immediately when it comes into contact with water by gently dabbing on it.
5) After washing face, pat dry water on eyelash extensions first so that they won't feel so heavy.

As I believe that most of you would be keen to know more about the longevity of the eyelash extension, so I went the extra mile by recording down the strands of eyelash extensions that dropped on a daily basis and here's the table that I compiled.

I noticed that the eyelash extensions on my right eye drops more. Hence, there were gaps in between my right eye while the eyelash extensions on my left were still pretty much intact.

On Day 12, I went for a touch-up and it lasted me for about another 3-4 days before the extensions start to drop again. I did check with Elaine as to why is it that the eyelash extensions on my right eye falls more freqently than the ones on my left eye and she said that its probably because I sleep sideways.

The best part about Allure Beauty Saloon The Wonder Lash is that it looks so much more natural as compared to the one that I have done previously. Most of my friends thought that I had false eyelashes on. Its only the beauty bloggers and my friend, Orca that could tell that I had eyelash extensions done because they won't see the lash band and that she has accompanied me for my previous eyelash extension respectively.

I love how fuss-free facial masks are because they are so convenient - you simply use and toss them out after each use.

While I have tried out many different types of facial masks before, this has got to be my first time trying out 2 step facial mask.

Leaders Clinic 2 Step Dr. For Skin Snail Collagen Filler Mask

What is it:

It is a special Rx which intensively manages skin which has been damaged by the external environment with a peeler clinic system containing elasticity builiding ingredients such as snail mucus components (mucin), Marin collagen and coenyme Q10 which provides nutrients and elasticity to dry and non-elastic skin.

Directions:

1) After facial wash, apply 'Mask Base Ampoule' evenly all over the face, gently wrap the face with hands to help absorption of the product.

2) Take the mask out of its package, unfold and place the sheet on the face.

3) Rest comfortably for 15-20 minutes and remove the mask.

My thoughts:

I was very excited when I received these facial masks because I have had good experience with products that contains snail extract or mucus. These products usually have got whitening and healing properties such as lightening scars or dark spots.

I like how moisturizing the ampoule is on its own, even before using the facial mask. After using the facial mask, I noticed that my skintone looked more even and fairer. I also noticed that the size of my pores reduced slightly.

Good things are meant to be shared and as usual, I tried Leaders Dr. For Skin Snail Collagen Filler Mask on my Mom. I realised that it helps to reduce the appearance of her fine lines as well as help to plump up her skin.

Would I recommend this: Yes

The only downside would probably be the price as it might not be as affordable to some, Apart from that, I don't see why Leaders Clinic 2 Step Dr. For Skin Snail Collagen Filler Mask shouldn't be added to my holy grail list.

Leaders Clinic Medieu Sensitive Sun Cream

What is it:

UV-protecting ingredients with great skin safety block out UVA and UVB at the same time to efficiently protect skin. Opuntia Extract ingredients that soothe comfortably skin irritated by ultraviolet rays are contained for the use of sensitive skins or even for childen with assurance.

It is a double use of makeup base and sunscreen with W/S shape that spreads softly without glossiness and with waterproof type that does not have to worry about being removed by sweat or water.

Directions:

In the last step of skincare, apply proper amount evenly on face and parts easily exposed in sun.

My thoughts:

Initially, I thought that this was gonna be yet another product similiar to BB cream but I was wrong!

Unlike BB cream which can be rather thick in nature, Leaders Medieu Sensitive Sun Cream is very easy to blend and the color does not differ too much from my skintone. The best part is texture-wise, it doesn't feel too oily.

In terms of coverage, I would say that it provides medium coverage.

Coverage (w/o powder): 3.5/5
Coverage (with powder): 4/5

I like to use Leaders Medieu Sensitive Sun Cream when I know that I am gonna be outdoors, on Casual Fridays or even when I'm going to grab lunch on weekends.

I normally just apply Leaders Medieu Sensitive Sun Cream and I'm good to go. However, if I really want it to last longer, I will apply a bit of loose powder to set it.

As for staying power, I would rate it:

Staying power (w/o powder): 3.5/5
Staying power (with powder): 4/5
Overall Rating: 3.75/5

The only downside would probably be that it doesn't conceals my syringoma as much, compared to if I were to use liquid foundation.

Virginia has also kindly included a gift along with the package which I thought was rather sweet of her.

ViVi February 2012 Magazine Scans

I know I haven't been posting magazines for a while but I felt that I had to share the makeup looks and fashion trends that I spotted from the February issue of Vivi.

Here's some of my favourites from this issue.

You would see a lot of pastel or softer-colored makeup, paired with brighter coordinates to balance it out, so that the outfit and the makeup won't be both screaming for attention at the same time.

For hair - braids is still popular especially to create that bohemian or gyspy look. Soft curls are also spotted as shown in the picture above.

For the eye makeup - you would realised that it is kept to the minimum by either a thin line for eyeliner, or at the very most, thick eyeliner but eyeshadow is kept to neutral or not-so-obvious colors and definitely not smokey eyes.

The next page that caught my attention has got bags featured in them. I mean, how can a girl ever have too many bags?

Tell me that ain't just me drooling over some of the classic pieces as well as vintage luxury bags! My favourite among the lot would be the Ferrangmo bag (1st row, 1st column) as well as the Gucci tote (1st row, 4th column).

Love the pink and brown eyeshadow look with mascara instead of false eyelashes as it looks softer and more natural.

If you have realised, the pink hue for this year be it lip color, cheek color or even eyeshadow contains more blue (cool tone). Its more toned down, a less brighter version of pink compared to last year.

I think that the nude pink trend is likely to stay for a while this year.

I know this is a bag for dogs, puppies but I want it even though I don't have a dog because..

1) Its so pretty! I like it for its simplicity.
2) I like Lena and she's carrying it in this photoshoot.

And check out those engravings on the rings! They say things like, "Are you happy here with me?"

Chessy max I know, but I like. Why don't we have that over here in Singapore? ):

And we have got a sweet girly look that I think would be perfect for the weekends as well as a sexy look (which reminds me very much of Korean night makeup) that's ready to kill anytime which one could wear to dinners, special events or even maybe work (if your workplace ain't that conservative)!

Like I have mentioned earlier, this season is all about pastel and bright colors. I mean, that's what Spring/Summer is all about, ain't it?

Saw that Too Cool For School, a Korean skincare and makeup brand has got a sponge that is similiar to Beauty Blender.

I also spotted A eyelash by Ayumi Hamasaki. Look what I found when I googled about A eyelash in Yahoo Japan?

It's the limited edition of A eyelash which has 2 pair of false eyelashes at 2940 Yen (SGD$48.47). The packaging is so nice! Love the pink leopard prints!

Neutrogena-Cosmopolitian Dinner + Coordinates #7

As I had some time to spare before the commencement of the dinner, I decided to take a walk along Esplanade before walking down to One Fullerton.

It was unusually breezy that evening and while admiring the scenery, I decided to take a couple of scenic shots for memory sake as well as to share with you lovelies! Look, aren't they beautiful?

I was offered this drink upon reaching Pierside Kitchen & Bar. Guess what is it?

We were also given one part to a puzzle which we had to find the other two missing pieces to win a prize.

Didn't managed to win because we couldn't find the last piece. Its such a good ice-breaker though. Got to know Veronika (she's a real elegant lady) whom had the 2nd piece to the puzzle.

And this bread is so awesome that I can't remember how much I had.

Did I mention how much I love bread? This ain't exactly a good sign because bread = carbo.

And here's my second drink of the day.

As it was pretty dark inside, here are the few powerpoint slides which I managed to capture.

The star product of the day is... Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Concentrate!

Here are some facts that Cindra from Neutrogena shared with us:

1) Neutrogena hydro boost night concentrate contains olive extract and hyaluronic acid which is 10 times more moisturizing compared to a sheet mask. So it will be as though as you use 10 sheet masks one after another.

2) Neutrogena Hydro Boost Series is the No. 1 hydrating series.

They also had Dr Derrick Aw, a dermatologist over to share with us what causes dry skin. He's really humourous by the way.

Apparently, dry skin is caused by - external factors such as environmental insults or topical products. And our skin gets even dryer in countries that has low humidity.

Apart from that, soaking yourself in bathtub, going to steam rooms or sauna and even using bath salt can dry your skin out. He also mentioned that products that contains SLS would dry our skin out. Are you guilty of any of those mentioned above?

He added that if one suffers from acne, it would be better to use a moisturizer that contains hydro gel instead of pure gel as pure gel would suck up the water content of your skin and thus, making it even drier.

A misconception that most people would have is that they don't have to apply moisturizer since they have oily skin. This is not the case because the oil content produced by your skin does not help to prevent sensitive skin or eczema.

It was very much of a hands-on session where we tried the texture of the various products. I tried out the texture of Hydro Boost Essence and I really like it! It doesn't feel oily nor sticky. Might get this after I finish my current essence.

After the hands-on session, there was a lucky draw. It works in a way whereby if your message (see below) matches what the emcee says, you get to win a prize. I thought that this was rather refreshing for a change instead of plain ol' boring numbers.

And the best part is everyone gets to win a prize! Here's my prize.

The butterscotch ice cream is so good that I thought that I just died and went to heaven! Not so much of a fan for the chocolate tart though.

Its so cute isn't it? Am so gonna bring that to my office! It so coincidental because I have intended to get a pillow so that I could place it behind my back.

It was such a calm night when I walked along the bay to City Hall. It suddenly dawned on me that as a Singaporean, I failed to embrace or realise how clean, beautiful and safe this small but safe city is.

In 2012, one of my new year resolutions would be to learn to appreciate the merits of my country and complain less about its less than efficient transportation especially during peak hours in the morning, cost of living etc.

Before I end this post, I thought that I would share with you lovelies the outfit that I wore to Neutrogena-Cosmopolitian dinner.

I paired it with black heels and wore it with a black tube underneath (to make it look more conservative) as I had to go to work during the day. When it gets too cold, I throw on a black blazer.

To tone it down or make the entire outfit looks less serious, I would switch the black peep-toe heels to a pair of brown-ankle strapped heels.

This makes the outfit looks more fun and you're all ready for that girls' night out or that special date!

I would also wear Sadie Party Frock without the inner tube with black killer heels to club!

Patricia's Tip of the day:

For ladies whom wants to enhance their bust, try overlapping kimono-cut (as shown above) tops or dresses as it would make your bust look bigger.

Remember girls, its not about having many dresses, tops or skirts, its all about putting it together and playing around with accessories, shoes and experimenting with makeup to get different kinds of looks with the exact same piece of clothing.

To blot or not

I'm sure that oil blotters aren't foreign to you lovelies. I was first introduced to it during my early teens when every other girl would be seen blotting their nose or face almost everywhere around the school be it the corridor, halfway through lessons or in the ladies. In fact, it was something that creates bonding between the girls.

As I grew older, I stopped relying on oil blotters that much as my face wasn't that oily compared to when I was going through puberty. But there came a day whereby I got Kleenex oil blotters as a gift with purchase (GWP) and I started falling in love with oil blotters again.

Despite having mentioned several times before, I have got combination skin. While my cheeks is prone to dryness at times, my nose gets shiny by mid-day and I have to blot my nose at least once or maximum twice a day. It gets rather embarassing when my nose looks so shiny in photos, especially those taken with flash!

Now, the question most of us have asked ourselves umpteen of times at the back of our head - Should I really blot my face or nose with oil blotters?

Well, the answer is yes and no. Yes if you haven't had any makeup on your face on that particular day. No if you have makeup on. You should use a piece of tissue to blot away excess sebum before touching up with powder so as not to clog your pores.

I have also heard of people using paper serviettes (those that you see in Starbucks or Mcdonalds) or kitchen towels to blot their face and they claim that it works really well. A reader of mine, Jamie asked if I would recommend that and my reply was - you never know what goes behind the production of paper serviettes and kitchen towels, try it out at your own risk. For people whom have sensitive skin, its a big no-no!

Do you all use oil blotters? If you do, what do you think of them? And what's the best brand that you have tried?

Until then, I think I rather stick to my trusty tissue paper to blot away the excess oil on my nose.

Project Finish it Up: December 2011

Last month, I managed to finish 8 products in total and only one product is in trial-size! Am so proud of myself for finishing them.

You know, I always have a bad habit of opening up new products when I haven't finish the previous set just because I can't wait to try the new product out so that I can share my thoughts with you all?

Anyway, here are the products which I have finished last December.

1) Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Refining Softener Light

I had high hopes for this but it was disappointing. In fact, I'm so glad that I didn't get the retail size, if not how am I supposed to commit to it?

Whitening: ★★☆☆☆
Moisturizing: ★★☆☆☆
Cleansing ability: ★★★☆☆

I did not observe any visible whitening or brightening effects after using this toner. It is also not very moisturizing. In fact, I think it makes my face dry.

Repurchase: No

2) Bio-essence Tanaka White Bright White Clarifying Softener

Am usually not a fan of Bio-essence because their brand image stuck at the back of my head is that its meant for mature ladies. I know that they have gone through a brand rejuvenation but when I first came across the brand, they only had the pollen series which most mature ladies would use.

Anyway, I got this with my bestie, Carissa on one of our trips to JB. We were deciding between Beautymate lotion and Bio-essence and ended up getting this because they had a promotion going on which kinda spurred us to get it.

Honestly, this toner is not bad as it brightens my skin and it cleanse quite well too. The only thing that I dislike about this toner is - its packaging that is in the form of a glass bottle. Although glass is supposed to protect the contents, it can be rather hard to handle because I have to be very careful with it.

8) Nivea Night Whitening Body Milk

I got this because my bestie, Carissa recommended it. Both of us are suckers for anything that is labelled whitening for both face and body because we want to get fairer badly!

Initially I was skeptical because I have tried so many body lotions before and it didn't make me any fairer. However, I noticed the whitening results of Nivea body lotion after one month of religiously using it.

Coordinates #6: Day to night

Don't you girlies love carousels? I have a thing for it since young and I would go ROUNDS on them whenever I am in amusement parks. As I got older, of course I stopped going to amusement parks that often but I would stop by specialty gift shops that sells miniature carousels figurines. They don't come cheap, averaging about SGD$100+ because they are so nicely crafted.

DAY:

During the day, I would wear the dress with a cardigan because its so cold in my office. Plus, it looks much more formal than wearing it without.

By the way, that's my trusty cardigan from Zara which I had it for years, since 2006?

In my opinion, there's no need to accessorize as the diamante should be the focal point. Wearing a necklace will only take the limelight away from the diamante. But if you really insist, try pairing it with a short necklace that has got a small pendant that ends just below your collarbone. A pearl necklace would be ideal too.

NIGHT:

I'm pretty sure that you girls meet up with your girlfriends, have that hot date, gatherings or events to attend after work. And sometimes, its just so hard to think about what to wear in the morning because your outfit has got to be decent enough for work yet something that's not too formal or even maybe exude a hint of glamour or sexiness.

One thing that I like about Lisette Diamante dress is that it is very versatile. The length of the dress is just nice for work. You won't want to be caught in a situation whereby you bend over, only to realise that your colleagues have seen your Victoria's Secret cheekies.

After work, I just have to take off my cardigan and I'm good to go for either a dinner with my girlfriends or a gathering by adding a bangle or even a formal dinner/event by throwing on a black shawl.

I have also decided to put up some pictures that my BFF, Orca took for me on her iPhone and also have painstakingly edited them via various apps before sending it to me.

Unlike usual nose mask/pack, Sophie Monk Bye Bye Blackhead Remove Easy 1, 2, 3 has got 2 additional steps which is to apply deep sebum softener prior to applying the nose pack and then follow up with pore treatment essence to close up the pores.

My thoughts:

The opening of the sebum purifying mask is rather big so you have to be really careful when opening it because most of the time when I open it, the contents will spill out.

I usually apply a thick layer on my nose area and it takes about 30 - 40 minutes for it to dry completely. It can be rather painful when you try to remove it.

As the nose mask is light in colour, I thought that it only managed to remove at most 3 blackheads at the first glance. It was only when I inspected it carefully then I realised that it removed most of the impurities on my nose. Gosh, I didn't know that my nose was filled with so much disguising stuffs. Even I myself finds it disguising whenever I enlarge the picture above.

Sophie Monk Double Lifting Masks

Here's my overall take on Sophie Monk Double Lifting Masks.

- Fair bit of excess essence after removing mask from pack

- Essence drips when opening facial mask pack and while applying onto face

Generally, I'm not very fond of facial masks with ear hooks because I always get a headache after having it on for 5 to 10 mins.

Besides, facial masks with ear hooks are usually less moisturizing then those without ear hooks. However, Sophie Monk Double Lifting Masks are one of the more moistuizing one that I have tried. I quite like the fact that I am able to have the facial mask on and am able do other tasks without having to worry that it might drop.

Here are the different kind of Sophie Monk Double Lifting masks.

Basically, those Japanese words on top in ovals means that you should cleanse your face, apply toner, apply facial mask and follow up with moisturizer.

While beauty subscription services is still pretty new in Singapore, I'm not unfamiliar with them in terms of how it works as I have read about them before on US beauty blogs. And you know reading about them and experiencing it yourself is totally different.

Prior to Glamabox, I haven't encountered any other beauty subscription service before so I can't do a comparison.

Thought that it would be great if I were to share a little background information on Glamabox before I continue to elaborate more.

I wasn't expecting it to contain 2 eye creams which was a little disappointing since I can't use eye creams due to my syringoma. I'm probably gonna pass them either to my Mom or Aunt. I might try out Neogence Hyaluronic Hydrating Eye Cream though as I am rather pleased with their Make Up Serum which I got previously.

Other than that, I'm gonna bring the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Lip Balm and Cyber Colors Hand Cream - Strawberry to office. On the right hand side of my office desk, its my mini vanity area. Its expanding as the days goes by because I have been bringing stuffs there almost every other day. Am starting to rely heavily on facial sprays for that instant perk me up as well as easier touch-ups.

In a nutshell, if you are someone whom loves trying out new products and don't mind products or samples from the same product category, Glamabox is for you. And its not for you if you happen to be someone whom is very particular about not having repeats.

I bet some of you will be like, "Can you tell me how much is it already? Please don't keep me in suspense. Thank you very much."

A Brow Cadabra Party with Pink Parlour + Giveaway!

On 9 December, I attended Pink Parlour's - A Brow Cadabra Party over at Pink Parlour, Orchard Central.

I must say that the entire venue was very nicely done up. I mean, look at how much attention they pay to tiny details.

And of course, there are yummy treats for us!

There were cushions and it was super cozy and relaxing.

And then I spotted a chandelier! Its so pretty! There are also pretty snowflakes hanging on it!

Before the event, we were sipping champagne while helping ourselves to the chocolate cookies.

When Mint introduced herself, I was like, "You know Silver right?" Apparently, I met Silver at an event and Silver was telling me that she's waiting for Mint to go down to the Singha Full Moon Party together. If not for the fact that my friends were already at Clarke Quay the other time, I would have met Mint earlier. Mint has really nice, big eyes!

It's Wendi! She's telling us the dos and don'ts for eyebrows.

After that, she showed us how we can groom our eyebrows ourselves at home and Melissa was her model.

It was pretty insightful because I have never ever trimmed my own eyebrows because I thought that it would be better to leave it to the pros. At the very most, I just use a tweezer to pluck out spray or excess hair but it turns out that maintaining your own eyebrows ain't that difficult afterall!

As usual, while others could watch the demostration with 100% attention, I was stealing quick glances at the demostration while jotting down notes on my iPhone with regard to tips that were shared. So if you happen to see me typing on my iPhone the next time, do note that its not that I'm not interested in what the presenter is saying but rather, I am jotting down notes so that I can share these beauty tips with my readers. After all, I hope that I can spread beauty knowledge across to as many girls as possible.

I will be separating the beauty tips instead of lumping them together so that the post will flow better. Here's the first one!

Tip #1:

Using an eyebrow comb, comb up and down and cut off excess hair with a pair of curved scissors.

While I have tried eyebrow trimming (plucking and shaving) and threading, I have never tried eyebrow waxing.

To my amazement, eyebrow waxing didn't hurt as much as I thought it to be! Probably its due to the fact that Wendi was super fast in pulling the strip.

The benefits of waxing are:

- Removes dead skin
- Last longer as hair growth would be slower compared to eyebrow plucking and threading.

Here's how my brows look like after eyebrow waxing. Its super clean right?

Mint was like, "Patricia, your brow area look so clean after waxing!"

While waxing has got several advantages over traditional threading and plucking, it's not for everyone, especially those whom have sensitive skin.

Next, Wendi demonstrated color tinting of the brows on Fai. If you have colored your hair blonde or red and wants your brows to match your hair color, now you know where to head to!

Of course, before tinting Fai's eyebrows, Wendi started off by using the wax wand to get rid of stray hair.

Apply wax from wax wand by twisting the top.

Tip #2:

Warm the wax wand up by rolling it in between your palms.

1) Apply wax on top of the area which has got excess hair.

2) Place a clean strip on top of the wax and press it down firmly in the direction of hair growth.

Tip #3:

Pull the strip up fast, against the direction of hair growth for a clean finish.

3) Apply brow tint and wait for half an hour.

And here's how Fai's brows look after 30mins!

Look at how happy he is with his new brows!

Remember, you should not have oil or moisturizer on your skin prior to waxing if not it won't be effective.

Tip #4:

For best results, spread a thin layer of wax instead of a thick layer.

Tip #5:

To soothe redness or calm skin after waxing, remember to apply calming lotion.

It's Skin Power 10 Formula VE Effector

I have long wanted to share about this amazing and affordable product. I first came across It's Skin because 2PM is their ambassador. And when one of my poly FYP mate, Andeline went to Korea, I asked her to help me get this since we don't have It's Skin in Singapore.

What is it:

Essence containing vitamin E (tocopherol) capsules that directly provides nutrients and moisture to the skin to make it look lustrous and smooth.

Rating: ★★★★★

My thoughts:

Pros:

- Reduce redness/irritated skin and swelling
- Make skin smoother
- Even out skin tone
- Lighten post acne marks
- Not oily nor sticky

Cons:

The only con would probably be that it is:

- Not readily available in Singapore, even if it is, its marked up way too much.

I use this twice a day, once in the morning after toner/lotion and prior to sunscreen as well as before bedtime after cleansing and toning. It lasted me for about 2.5 months.

The best thing about It's Skin Power 10 Formula VE Effector is that it doesn't contain any fragrance and that it contains Vitamin E. Vitamin E helps to lighten scars and is very good for the skin.

Repurchase: Yes, definitely. In fact, I might even stock up on this for myself and as gifts for friends.

P.S: I saw an It's Skin outlet over at City Square Johor Bahru (JB) that is still undergoing renovation when I was there 2 weeks ago. Can't wait for it to open so that I can check out their range of products offline.

In the month of November, I had the privilege of trying Trilipo treatments over at Cutis Laser Clinic.

What is it:

TriLipo technology combines 2 effective technologies – TriLipo Radio Frequency (RF) and TriLipo Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA) to simultaneously create a synergistic effect that delivers non-invasive fat removal and lymphatic drainage, as well as skin tightening, treating anti-aging facial as well as slimming concerns successfully.

The 3 key features of TriLipo to target slimming efficiently are to Release, Remove and Reshape.

1) Release:

Triple action fat reduction takes place as TriLipo targets the dermis, hypodermis and muscle layers concurrently. The combined effect of RF and DMA causes deep and homogenous heating of both the dermal and fat layers. TriLipo RF energy heats the subcutaneous fat tissue layer forcing the release of liquid fat from the cells. This thermal effect accelerates natural fat metabolism.

2) Remove:

Fat removal is accelerated by simultaneously applying internal and external pressure on the fat layer. Internally, DMA causes the muscles to contract, pushing the fat cells up. My thoughts:

During the first session, I was quite nervous even though I had researched online prior to my appointment.

As I used to be severly overweight, I have very bad cellulite and stretch marks on the back of my thigh and I am very conscious about it. Hence, I don't usually wear shorts if you noticed.

My first session started with a consultation with Dr Sylvia. She's really pretty! No airs or anything. After understanding my concerns, she suggested that I try Trilipo for my back thigh for 3 consecutive sessions.

She also did a face analysis for me. They had this super cool machine that would take photos of your face and you could see whether you have pigmentation when you switch to different modes. Dr Sylvia commented that I had been rather religious in my skincare routine as I don't have much pigmentation, only 3-4 small ones around my mouth area. Hence, she advised that I should ensure that I do not miss out the immediate area outside my lips when I apply sunblock.

My therapists, Ling and Fan attended to me on different days. My weight was recorded prior to the treatment and measurements around my thigh were taken down before and after each treatment.

Here's how the treatment room looks like.

They first started with lower pulse and temperature and then increase them accordingly during subsequent visits. In terms of comfort level, I would rate it 3/5. At the start of the treatment, I can sense the pulsing more but as the temperature goes higher, I don't feel it that much. The pulsing feels like static, similar to that kind of static you feel when you get too near to someone in a shopping mall. Because my treatment is on the thigh area, it can be rather sensitive at times but it is still bearable.

In terms of side effects, I haven't noticed any unusual symptoms after the treatments except for slight redness which would go away after a while.

Prior to the treatment, I did clarify some doubts with Dr Sylvia. Thought that I would share it here in case anyone needs to refer to it.

Q: Does Trilipo treatments aid in weight loss without having to exercise?

A: Trilipo treatments mainly helps in skin tightening. Weight loss can best be achieved with exercise on top of Trilipo treatments.

Q: What causes cellulite?

A: It is caused by the breakdown of tissues which causes uneven and dimpled skin.

Q: How come skinner girls have cellulite too?

A: Cellulite occurs more often in ladies on the thighs, buttocks and abdomen area but some men have it too. Even supermodels have cellulite.

After 3 sessions, I lost 2cm on both my thighs. Although some stretch marks and cellulite are still visible, but it has reduced significantly! Apart from that, the skin on the back of my thigh also look and feel smoother.

Clinique Spotlight's On You Media Event

Think red carpet events is only exclusive to celebrities? Well, certainly not for Clinique Spotlight's On You Media Event!

It was almost like a reenactment of the recent MAMA Awards held except that instead of stars and performers, the attendees were editors of print media, online publications, bloggers and other media influencers. All of us arrived at Reflections at Keppel Bay, Show Suites in style by Mercedes cab.

Upon entering, there was a white carpet with photographers lined up on both sides and flashes were flickering almost every second.

Here's a picture of me with the Clinique backdrop at the end of the white carpet.

The emcee of the day was Bobby Tonelli for the Oscar-themed event. You may recognize him as Paul, the Caucasian lawyer that married Yue Niang in the hit Channel 8 drama, The Little Nyonya. He's really tall and very charming in person.

He was asking me what spurred me to attend Clinique Spotlight's On You Media Event and what are the wonderful things that I heard about Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector.

Chanel Makeup Haul + Review

Earlier in July this year, I blogged about purchasing some Chanel makeup products from their store in Marina Bay Sands but I haven't really done a haul post of them until now.

Its the big 'P' word, procrastination. Sometimes, I just have so much on my mind that I tend to forget about some posts that I have planned to do up initially.

Anyway, I walked into the Chanel store planning to get a liquid foundation because my Fancl one was running low and I was substituting foundation with BB Cream. But guess what I walked out with? 3 items in total - Makeup Base, Liquid Foundation and Loose Powder.

As if I needed another loose powder when I haven't finished using my Lancome and Integrate loose powder. But its justifiable because... the Chanel loose powder is so fine and sheer!

I have been reserving these Chanel makeup products for events or special occasions. It was only until recently that I have been using them regularly, almost on a daily basis so I thought I would share my thoughts on them.

Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base

My thoughts:

Prior to acquiring Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base, I have been using either Fancl Skin Care Base Liquid or Tony Moly Party Lover Silky Smooth Primer before applying liquid foundation.

The texture of Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base is somewhat in between that of Fancl Skin Care Base Liquid and Tony Moly Party Lover Silky Smooth Primer. It does what a primer and makeup base does - which is to smoothen out my skin as well as brighten my skin tone respectively.

Although it does contain fragrance, I must say that I like its rose scent as it smells so feminine. It makes me so happy each time I smell that when I'm putting on my makeup.

Overall, I think that this is a good product except that I don't really fancy the packaging that much. I wished it comes in a pump bottle because that would be so much more convenient, as the opening of the container is too big and its rather hard to control the amount of product that I need since I don't fancy using the spatula included to get product out from the bottle.

Chanel Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup

Initially, I wanted to get a liquid foundation that make my skin look more dewy. But after trying both, I got Chanel Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup. I must say that I'm glad that I did because it keeps my face matt yet not flat all day except that I have to blot my nose once or twice.

In terms of coverage, it provides medium to high coverage. In fact, it has the highest coverage among the liquid foundations that I own from Lancome and Fancl.

I usually apply Chanel Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup by dabbing it on with my fingers before blending them with a wedge sponge. I think that by doing so, it helps to provide a flawless finish.

Tip #1:

I usually start by applying Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base and Chanel Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup at the sides of my nose and mouth before working on other part on my face. This helps to reduce redness.

Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder is a very sheer powder that helps to set my makeup and mattify my skin. I love the fact that it does not compete with my foundation like how some loose powder does. The powder is also very fine.

I usually apply Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder with a large powder brush using the side of the brush and press the powder onto my face. I think that by doing so, it helps to set my makeup better and make it longer-lasting. In fact, this is the best loose powder in terms of its shade that I have used till date, compared to my Lancome Loose Powder (which is a little too pink for my skintone) and Integrate Loose Powder (which is a little too yellowish for my skintone). But you know what? I usually mix my Lancome Loose Powder and Integrate Loose Powder together so that it looks more neutral.

Tip #2:

If you have two Loose Powders that don't suit your skintone (either too light or too dark/too pink or yellow), try combining the both of them in the ratio of 1:1 to get a more neutral color that suits your skintone.

I have always wanted to try Chanel base makeup and I am glad that I did! Previously, I was using Fancl and Lancome base makeup. While I love Chanel base makeup products, I must say that its really pricey (it cost me about $200+ in total), especially at the point of time when I purchased it as I was still a student then and I wasn't working.

As for Fancl base makeup products, I think that they are rather good value for money but I dislike the fact that I have to finish using the products within the 30 days freshness period.

Lancome base makeup products are not too bad either. They provide very good coverage like Chanel, the only grip that I have about Lancome base makeup products is that the foundation that I was matched to had pink undertones. While it made me looked more radiant, it made my face and neck look like they don't match each other.

I really love base makeup products (makeup base, primer, liquid foundation, loose powder) but I seldom purchase them off drugstores shelves simply because I'm afraid that I will pick out the wrong shade. I don't mind 2-way cake or powders because they usually have a few shades but for liquid foundations, there are way too many shades available and its confusing.

Bloodbuzz: London Calling Fashion Trunkshow

On 3 December, I attended BloodBuzz London Calling Fashion Trunkshow over at The Pigeonhole.

They had a lot of visuals on display which was very tastefully done up like the one shown below.

Sketches of fashion pieces and lookbook/outfit inspiration were showcased as well.

I know, you're probably thinking, "Where are the clothes?"

Here they are, very versatile and wearable pieces I would say.

What's a tea party without good food?

Look how cute these shepherd's pie are with the Union Jack! They even paid attention to tiny details like this to fit in with their theme - London Calling.

They even had a nail booth where guests could get their nails done. How can I miss that especially when I love nail art?

Here are the designs that one could choose from.

I like both the union jack and Gaga-fied design and I couldn't really make up my mind, so....

I asked the lady (I didn't get her name, argh) whom did my nails if she could incorporate both designs together. She asked me which particular design I like from each set and my answer was - the Union Jack and the crystals which looked more like studs and reminded me of Lady Gaga.

After 20 minutes or so, or was it 30? My nails went from zero to hero!

Last but not least, this is what I wore to Bloodbuzz London Calling Fashion Trunkshow.

Was in a rush to get out of my house that day so I skipped eye makeup and merely applied double eyelid stickers and handmade false eyelashes. I even skipped mascara! But was amazed that the false eyelashes still blend in with my natural eyelashes, probably because I did curl them together. Now I know how I can achieve brighter and larger looking eyes even when I'm running late in the shortest time possible!

Zamian: Cacao Pack and Escargot Crystal Whitening Cream

2 weeks ago, I received Zamian Cacao Pack and Escargot Cream from Zamainbeauty.

Both items were nicely bubble-wrapped which I thought was rather thoughtful of them to do so.

My thoughts:

Upon application, I felt slight warming and tingling sensation. I have checked with the owner of Zamainbeauty and she advised that the warm and tingling sensation is normal but not everyone experiences that.

I was kind of disappointed with the product when I tried it out for the first time because I thought that it would be a peel-off mask. Blame that on me for not reading or checking about the product on the website (apparently, the packaging is all in Korean you see). In fact, after my 1st trial, I left this product on my vanity and kind of forgotten about it until a week later when I decided to give it one more chance. I don't know about you girls but my skin normally react to new products only after using it for a few times. This is also one of the reason why I usually test products at least for 2 weeks before coming to a conclusion about it.

I have been wearing makeup almost everyday lately due to family outings, meetup with friends and ex-colleagues as well as attending events. I don't know, but when I put makeup on a regularly basis, I make sure that I pay twice the attention to my skincare regimen compared to when I don't put makeup regularly. I really hate the blackheads on my nose and those whiteheads on my chin. Instead of using Kose Mask White which I normally do to remove blackheads and whiteheads, I used Zamian Cacao Pack on every alternate day for the whole of this week. And I realised that my face feels smoother, looks brighter and that the blackheads and whiteheads are significantly reduced.

My only gripe about this product is that I still don't really like the warm tingling sensation that I feel each time I use this pack. Otherwise, this would be a great product.

My thoughts:

If you have been following SweetestSins regularly, you would know by now how marveled I am by snail extract at the moment and that I prefer gel to cream moisturizers. Now put that together and Zamian Escargot Crystal Whitening Cream fits the bill perfectly.

I was very excited to try this out since it came just in time as I was almost done with my previous tub of moisturizer, Juju Aquamoist Whitening Gel Cream. Plus, products that contains snail extracts hasn't fail me yet.

I have been using Zamian Escargot Crystal Whitening Cream daily for about 2 weeks and I noticed that my skin looks brighter. And I really like the scent of it because it smells so good!

Project Finish it Up: November 2011

I know I haven't been posting regularly lately.

The thing is - I have been spending time with my family and meeting my friends almost everyday till late. Not to mention attending events. Plus, I'm someone whom needs a bit of alone time everyday. But trust me that I haven't forgotten you girls because here I am squeezing every bit of time to put together this post for you. Most people would probably think that it doesn't take any longer than a few minutes to do up a post, but trust me, it isn't. You see, I have to take pictures, resize them and watermark them and then I have to think about the content and the way to phrase them and last but not least, proof-reading.

Only managed to finish using 4 products in the month of November, not to mention that one is of sample size! :X

Maybe I should be more disciplined and try to finish more products in December. I really hope to finish at least one of my makeup products since I have NEVER ever finish a makeup product before.

I picked up this product over at Watsons after reading about it on Andy Lee's blog. As most of you would know by now that I'm really into whitening products because I want to be fairer badly. On top of that, it doesn't contains alcohol, coloring, fragrance, mineral oil or animal deviant ingredients.

I usually apply this at night after I double cleanse my face and tone my face so that I will wake up to softer and brighter skin. The consistency of Juju AquaMoist Whitening Gel Cream feels similar to that of sleeping masks/packs except that its a bit lighter.

The only gripe that I have about this product is that the texture can be rather sticky initially and it takes some time to get used to that.

3. Sekkisei Supreme Washing Cream

This sample-sized cream cleanser was given to me by Jess.

Although it foams rather well when used with a face wash net, but I have my reservations for this cleanser as I really don't like the scent of it and the fact that it does make my skin feel tight after cleansing.

FYI, this was a gift from my Aunt.

At USD$20 for a bottle, its way out of my budget for a bottle of body wash, especially now that I am contributing to Singapore's unemployment rate. Apart from the hefty price tag that it comes with (for a bottle of body wash), its everything you want your body wash to be and something that you would want to come home to - especially after a long day at work or listening to monotonous lectures and squeezing with other commuters on public transport.

Repurchase: Yes if I have that spare cash

Before Caely started to trim my hair, she asked if I had any look in mind that I want or like and guess what did I show her?

I love Suzy! She looks so innocent and she's pretty with or without makeup. She's one of those Korean stars that exudes this naturally good-looking feel without trying too hard. She looks very adorable as well. And she looks the same in real life when I saw her at Miss A Singapore Showcase 2011. I think that those people whom say that she's fat are insane because she's not at all.
After asking me how much she can trim off from the back of my hair and explaining to me how she would cut my bangs in a way that would make my face look slimmer, Caely started to work her magic on my hair.

I couldn't help but to snap a picture of the wall decor that's covered with bright polka dots. I'm pretty sure my friend whom loves polka dots would love this.

As I just rebonded my hair in July this year, I thought that I would go for color instead of a perm. I really want to try perming my hair but I guess I will have to wait till my hair becomes longer.

When Caely showed me the color chart, I was lost. I mean, there were so many colors and I didn't know which one to pick!

So I decided to leave it to the pro and I asked her to pick a color that would suit my skin tone and not make me look any more tanned.
I told her that I don't want something that's too bright as I need to go for interviews and we decided on level 7 warm in the end.

That's my stylist of the day, Caely. I highly recommend her because she is really attentive. She even pay attention to small details whether I tie my hair up most of the time or do I let them down. Apparently, if I tie my hair up most of the time (which I do in fact), she would trim the sides of my hair so that it would fall nicely when I tie up my hair.

She also kept asking me how much she can cut from the back of my hair. Not all stylists are so attentive okay? They don't understand how long does it take for me to grow my hair out and they just anyhow snip and before I know it, my hair is like 4-5 inches gone. But Caely is different, she will let me know each time when she's going to trim my hair so that at least I am prepared for it.

Took a few pictures after my hair makeover because I liked the end result! You probably have seen these pictures if you have liked SweetestSins on Facebook or have followed me on Twitter. I have got overwhelming response from my friends when I posted these pictures up. Many of them thought that I rebonded my hair again because it looks straighter and I have also gotten compliments on how the bangs make me look 5 years younger. The best one was, "Patricia, did you lose weight? Your cheek bones are protruding out now." Well, I didn't lose weight actually and I had cheekbones all along, probably its the bangs that makes it pop out.

And here's how my hair looks from the back. It looks neater now after trimming.

I thought that I would show you my EOTD before I end.

I was wearing the same pair of falsies which my Aunt gave me on my cousin's wedding day and the girl whom shampooed my hair thought that it was eyelash extensions. She was saying that it looks very natural and that she thought that I had it done at a beauty salon.

I don't know why but I look like I have phoenix eye shape in the picture above.

Anyway, here's how the false eyelashes look like.

The lash band is very sturdy and the lashes are slightly harder than those handmade false eyelashes. But they still look very natural. In fact, the ends are longer so it exudes that innocent droopy eyes look.

Pantene 14 Days Challenge (Day 14)

This is a follow-up post to Pantene 14 Days Challenge, click here to read about Day 1 and 7 if you haven't already read it yet.

Day 14:

Q: How has my hair texture changed/improved?

A: I find that my hair became more moisturized, softer and also shinier. Apart from that, it doesn't turn oily that fast.

I also realised that I could actually stick to just one shampoo for the whole of two weeks and it didn't make my scalp irritated or itchy. Prior to that, I was switching between clarifying and anti-dandruff shampoo.

Conditioning and masking your hair is very important as it really makes a difference to your hair. I don't use conditioner regularly prior to rebonding my hair in late July this year, I merely use hair mask or treatment once every 2 days. It was after rebonding my hair that I realised how dry my hair was and that it wasn't as shiny as before. After an interview with Dr Jasmine Karsono, I realised that just like skin care which consists of 3-steps, we should care for our hair the same way. It was then that I began to incorporate both conditioner and hair mask to my hair regimen daily.

Although the norm would be to:

1) Shampoo > rinse > apply conditioner > rinse > apply hair mask/treatment > rinse,

I found a way which moisturizes my hair better which is to:

2) Shampoo > rinse > apply conditioner > massage hair > apply hair mask/treatment > massage > rinse.

As my hair can get a little dry as I have had chemical services such as rebonding and coloring done, I prefer applying hair mask after conditioner before rinsing. If your hair isn't as dry as mine, you could do it the normal way which is to apply conditioner and rinse before applying hair mask and then rinse off. Another reason why I use both Pantene Nature Care conditioner and hair mask together is because they are rather mild, not too rich to be used together unlike some products that can be quite rich and when you use it together, the result is just too overwhelming and you wouldn't like that.

He advised not to apply hair treatment from the crown area as the hair there is still healthy. For me, I always start from below my ears.

How to massage hair:

1) Take a small section of hair.

2) Using both of your thumbs, rub product onto hair in a downward motion.

Q: Which is my favourite product out of the whole range?

A: It has gotta be Pantene Nature Care Shampoo and Pantene Nature Care Intensive Penetrating Treatment!

I love how these two products moisturizes my hair yet it doesn't leave any oily residue!

I am skeptical of leave-on hair products be it conditioners, creme, serum or oil, simply because I didn't quite like the oily feeling that I get from some of them. Or worse still, there was once when a particular hair serum caused breakouts on the back of my neck and back.

So how did Pantene Nature Care Leave on Creme fared?

Moisturizing: ★★★☆☆

Fragrance: ★★★★☆

Ability to tame flyaway hair: ★★★★☆

Make hair smoother: ★★★★☆

Make hair shiner: ★★★★☆

Rating: ★★★☆☆

The first time I used this was when I had to go out and run some errands last minute and I didn't had time to shampoo my hair.

BEFORE

I dispensed about a twenty-cent coin worth of product and distributed it evenly onto the roots of my hair before rubbing on any remaining product onto the sides of my hair.

AFTER

It tames flyaway hair and the best thing is that it doesn't feel oily!

I really hate those products that makes my hair feels oily. Plus, the fragrance's really mild. FYI, I really hate products with strong fragrance as they tend to irritate my sensitive nose. The only downside would probably be its moisturizing ability, as I wish it would be a little bit more moisturizing. But then again, it would probably feel oilier if it was more moisturizing.

Patricia says, "You will like this product if you need a last-minute saver!"

Afterthoughts:

I paired this outfit with a tassel bag which I got from Zhuhai previously and off I went to celebrate my ex-colleague's birthday at a Korean BBQ restaurant.

Initially, I thought that Sweetheart baggy dress top wasn't very wearable as it was more of a tunic, and somehow I couldn't just wear it as a dress due to its cutting. I find that it looks the best if I were to let the seam of the top gather freely as shown above rather than to let it all the way down.

Material-wise, Sweetheart baggy dress top is very comfortable. Patricia says, "Its perfect to hide that tummy that's popping out after buffet lunch/dinners!" As the top part of the top is made of sheer chiffon, I paired it with strapless bra to avoid bra straps to be seen as it can look rather unsightly.

Before I decided how to put together this look, I had actually brainstormed and tried many different ways on working out this outfit. Hence, I thought that I would share what Sweetheart baggy dress top does not go with. Plus, I have a huge bottom so if I were to wear it the other way round, the end of the seam wouldn't be straight and that wouldn't look nice.

You would probably realized that there's a line in the middle of the top. Both the front and back of the top is the same, except that one of them has got the line in the middle. I have tried both ways and I think that wearing it the way shown in the picture above looks better as it accentuates my curves better.

Gmarket and Fancl Haul

Gmarket Haul

I have bought from Gmarket a couple of times before but this time round was my first attempt at purchasing from a overseas seller based in Korea.

I was tempted to get it because there was this event going on over at Gmarket and Charen Snail Essence Mask Pack 15 Sheets was only going for $6.50! Even with shipping which cost $3.90, the total is only $10.40 which is very very affordable! If you do the maths, one sheet is only about $0.70 after rounding up. Plus, after trying Elicina Xtreme Facial Mask, I'm sold by what snail extract/mucus could do for my skin! What's more, it had anti-aging properties which Mommy could use it too!

Charen Snail Essence Mask Pack 15 Sheets

I ordered Charen Snail Essence Mask Pack 15 Sheets on 12 November. It was shipped 2 days later on 14 November and I received it on 23 November. In total, it took 11 days for my order to be processed, packed and delivered to Singapore.

The seller was nice to include two sachets of BB cream samples. I have yet to try the BB cream yet but both my Mom and I had tried Charen Snail Essence Mask Pack. Its not too bad I would say. It contains quite a lot of essence, considering how affordable it is. I will give a more comprehensive review in a separate post once I have tried it for a longer period of time. So stay tuned yea? (:

Next up is my Fancl haul!

Fancl Haul

Went to Fancl to pick up the 2 bottles of Fancl Deluxe Tenseup which Fancl is giving away with a complimentary skin check for its members.

The BA did introduce some of Fancl products which would be suitable for me such as Fancl washing powder, Fancl Lotion and Fancl Cleansing Oil which I didn't get because I have bought and used them before previously. And also partly because I had my eyes set on White Christmas set.

When I asked her about the Fancl White Advance Drink EX, she let me sample both Fancl White Advance Drink EX and Deluxe Tense Up.

And I ended up walking away with these...

The BA gave me the Fancl 2012 calendar. I have had a few Fancl calendars previously and they are simple yet pretty! The BA was telling me that for every purchase made in November, I was also entitled to another 2 bottles of Fancl Deluxe Tenseup.

Fancl White Advance Drink EX, White Clear Mask and White Essence

I have finished all the collagen drinks, both Fancl White Advance Drink EX and Deluxe Tenseup. In terms of taste, I would say that I prefer Fancl Deluxe Tenseup rather than Fancl White Advance Drink EX.

After consuming these drinks 6 days in a row, did I observe or see any difference in my skin?

Some of the changes that I observed includes my complexion becoming brighter and smoother and that my arms became slightly fairer too. However, I must say that I am not sure if its due to the collagen drinks because I have been applying whitening body lotion on my body religiously and I am currently trying out this snail whitening face cream. Hence, I'm not sure whether is it the collagen drinks or the whitening products that is working for me.

I really want to get a month supply of Fancl White Advance Drink EX to try out to see if it really works but it really hefty as one box cost $43 and a month's supply would equate to $129. And $129 is quite a lot considering that I don't earn an income yet. But you'll be sure that I will get it once I have a constant inflow because I want to be fairer desperately. I still can't forgive myself for staying out in the sun, worse still, suntan-ing when I was younger. Apparently, that's the reason why my skin tone looks dark and dull now. ): Enough of ranting.

Day 1:

Q: How has my hair texture changed/improved?

A: I realized that my hair was softer and I could comb through my hair easily after shampooing and conditioning with Pantene Nature Care Shampoo and Conditioner.

Q: Which is my favourite product out of the whole range?

A: It gotta be Pantene Nature Care Shampoo as it makes my hair softer and it doesn't make my hair oily by the end of the day like some other shampoos does.

Unlike other shampoos, Pantene Nature Care Shampoo is clear in color but it foams and cleanse really quite without leaving my hair that dry compared to a clarifying shampoo that I normally use.

Q: How much do I like this haircare range?

Pantene Nature Care Shampoo: ★★★★☆

Pantene Nature Care Conditioner: ★★★☆☆

Overall (in terms of the shampoo and conditioner): 3.5/5

Although I prefer Pantene Nature Care Shampoo compared to Pantene Smooth and Silky Shampoo as it doesn't leave my hair oily by the end of the day, I must say that Pantene Smooth and Silky conditioner conditions my hair better than Pantene Nature Care Conditioner. But the thing is that if I were to use Pantene Smooth and Silky Shampoo and conditioner, my hair will be super oily at the end of the day and at times my scalp will feel itchy. Hence, I prefer using Pantene Nature Care Shampoo and conditioner even though it doesn't conditions or moisturize my hair that much. In fact, I'm surprised that Pantene Nature Care Shampoo is suitable for my scalp and that it doesn't irritate my scalp nor makes my hair oily by the end of the day after shampooing my hair with it.

From Day 2 onwards, I included Pantene Nature Care Intensive Penetrating Treatment into my haircare regimen.

I would use the products as follow:

Pantene Nature Care Shampoo > Conditioner >Intensive Penetrating Treatment

Day 7:

Q: How has my hair texture changed/improved?

A: My hair became smoother after I included Pantene Intensive Penetrating Treatment into my haircare regimen. I also realized that my crown area wasn't as flat as before.

Initially, I thought that perhaps the merits of Pantene Nature Care range would remain at being suitable for my scalp and that it gives my crown area more volume and that I would have to accept the fact that it doesn't conditions/moisturize my hair as much as Pantene Smooth and Silky range do but I was wrong!

By using Pantene Nature Care Conditioner and rinsing off after shampooing, and follow up with Pantene Nature Care Intensive Treatment and then rinsing off, it makes my hair so much smoother, almost akin to that of using Pantene Smooth and Silky Intensive Penetrating Treatment! I was overjoyed as its really hard to find hair products that doesn't irritate my scalp which is sensitive and dry and yet doesn't dry out my hair.

Q: Which is my favourite product out of the whole range?

A: It gotta be Pantene Nature Care Intensive Penetrating Treatment as it makes my hair smooth and conditions/moisturizes it and doesn't make it oily by the end of the day.

My thoughts:

I was rather excited to try out Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion since I have had good experience with Hada Labo products such as Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion and Hada Labo Cleansing Oil with High Purity Olive Oil.

As you can see from the swatches of Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion above, it has got a yellow tinge to it.

Texture-wise, I feel that its a little thicker as compared to Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion. It takes longer for my skin to fully absorb Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion despite patting it in.

I also feel that Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion feels oilier compared to Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion. My face looks shiny after I apply Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion.

Normally, to gauge whether a product works a not, you have to test it out for at least 2 weeks but I gave up after using Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion for a week because it broke me out. Initially, I thought it was probably the occasional zits that I would have once in a while but it persist until I stopped using Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion.

I have thus passed Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion to my Mom and she's liking it so far. She claims that its better than Heme 24hr Hydratin Detox-White Fundamental Fluid that she was using previously.

I think that Hada Labo Retinol Lifting & Firming Lotion would be more suitable for people with mature skin or those with dry skin.

I know that a lot of young women, including my peers in their 20s are starting their anti-aging skincare regimen. A word of caution is that - choose the anti-aging product very carefully. This is because most anti-aging products are developed for mature skin and they tend to be more oily. Hence, it is possible that it might be too rich for your skin and is likely to break you out.

Having said that, I'm not saying that you can't use anti-aging products, but choose wisely. Go for products that are developed for your age group. So far, the anti-aging range that I have tried out and didn't break me out is Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Intense and my favorite product from the range is the serum. What's more, their products are hypo-allergenic!

Project Finish it Up: October 2011

I just realized that I haven't posted my October Project Finish it Up. Blame that on my busy schedule in October. As I was rather caught up with school that month, I only managed to use up 3 products - of all are toners/lotions.

Only the CUSkin PH Balancing Toner is of retail-size while the Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (L) and Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture are of trial size.

1. Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (L)

There's 3 different types of lotion, namely Light, Moisture and Acne under this range. I received Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (Light) as part of the goodie bag for the Freshel event. Prior to using Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (Light), I was using Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Lotion. Hence, I wasn't really used to the thin consistency of Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (Light). So I stopped using it for a while until I finished using Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture.

The consistency of Laneige Power Essential Refiner Moisture is somewhat between a lotion and a toner. Hence, I find that my skin could adapt better when I switched over to Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (Light) after I finished the bottle of Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture.

Moisturizing: ★★☆☆☆

Brightening: ★★★★☆

Fragrance: ★★★★☆

Consistency: ★★★☆☆

Cleansing: ★★★☆☆

My thoughts:

Overall, I am rather satisfied with this lotion as it really helps to brighten my skin. Plus, the fragrance is very mild which doesn't trigger my sensitive nose. The only gripe is the consistency as I would prefer if it was a little thicker. But then again, it says 'Light' on the bottle, probably I will have to try out the 'Moisture' one if I really want a thicker consistency.

2. CUSkin PH Balancing Toner

My thoughts:

CUSkin PH Balancing Toner is like your regular toner. It contains alcohol which probably explains which my cheeks turned red when I first started using it. I kind of freaked out and stopped using it immediately. It can be a bit drying for normal to dry skin.

However, it removes impurities rather well. Scent-wise, it rather mild and not overbearing. I like the fact that it comes in a pump bottle which is easier to control the amount of product that I need.

Although I wouldn't recommend this for daily usage, here's how I use CUSkin PH Balancing Toner till the last drop:

1) After removing blackheads with pore strips, I would apply CUSkin PH Balancing Toner to my nose area before applying pore tightening serum. I find that by using CUSkin PH Balancing Toner in place of my regular toner, it helps to tighten my pores better.

2) If I spot any angry red bumps/pimples, I would apply CUSkin PH Balancing Toner to soothe it before using a anti-acne facial mask. This would reduce the redness and swelling of the bumps.

Overall rating: 2.6/5

Repurchase: I don't think so.

3. Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture

My thoughts:

Of all 3 toners/lotions mentioned in this post, Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture is best in moisturizing my skin. There are some days that I use it on its own without emulsion or essence and it doesn't feel my skin feeling tight!

Scent-wise, it is stronger than both Kanebo Freshel Whitening Lotion (Light) and CUSkin PH Balancing Toner but still not till the extent of being overwhelming.

My only gripe is that - why doesn't it contain whitening properties as well? I know, I'm greedy. But then again, which girl isn't?

As SweetestSins is a beauty blog, how can I not include my eye makeup of the day? I love the combination of gold and brown!

Looking at the pictures above, I realized that I have got sad-looking puppy eyes.

Afterthoughts:

As I wore Philly Pleat Dress on a casual day out, I paired it with my current favorite pair of flats and satchel. I think that Philly Pleat Dress is very versatile in the sense that I could pair it with black heels and a hobo bag and I am all ready for work.

Philly Pleat Dress has got elastic band at the back which can stretch quite a fair bit.

I am a UK10 and my height is 162cm. Although I can fit into Philly Pleat Dress, I think that I will look better in it if I were to lose a bit of weight as the material is kind of like spandex.

Other than that, I really like the design of Philly Pleat Dress because it looks so French and its a classic piece that will never go out of trend. I can imagine myself wearing it with a pearl necklace and red lipstick with kohl-rimmed eyes.

My thoughts:

I have received this particular Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam sometime early in June this year. However, I am only reviewing it now because I have mixed feelings over it. Don't get me wrong, its not a bad product but somehow it works for me at times and at other times, it doesn't.

During June this year, I was holding a vacation job and I stayed in an air-conditioned place for almost 8 hours everyday. Hence, my skin then was dry, prone to flaking and the powder on my face would crack at times. It was really unsightly. Hence, I put this product on hold for the time being then.

When I went back to school during the semester, the climate in Singapore is very humid and my T-zone tends to get rather oily, about 1 or 2 hours after I leave home. Hence, I thought I would give Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam a try.

Unlike the directions given above, I use a face wash net to work up a lather. I find that after using Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam, it helps to control the shine on my T-zone such that it only becomes shiny after about 3-4 hours. As I have combination skin with oily T-zone and my cheeks are prone to dryness at times, I realized that if I were to use Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam on my entire face, my cheeks would become dry and it feels a little tight. Hence, I tried using it only on my T-zone area and that solved my problem of having dry cheeks! I also realized that by massaging Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam not only in circular motions but also horizon and vertical, it helps to keep my T-zone matt for a longer period.

I prefer to use Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam at night after makeup remover rather than in the day as it helps to deep cleanse my skin thoroughly. Apart from that, I realized that Laneige Pore Deep Clearing Foam works better in Summer or warmer days compared to Winter or when it gets colder as my skin tends to get a little dry when it gets colder.

I won't be including the usual ratings and whether I would repurchase this product because I really have mixed feelings over it. Whether I like it a not, whether it works a not, it really depends on when I use it.

Who will love it:

- People with oily skin, combination oily

- People whom love the clean feeling that deep cleansing gives

- People living in a country that has a humid climate

Who will not like it:

- People with dry skin, combination dry

- People who experience tightness after cleansing

Sigma F45 Buffer Brush Review + Giveaway!

Earlier in October, I received F45 Buffer Brush from Sigma. They had wanted to send me the Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush but upon knowing that I already owned the latter, they sent me the former instead.

I realized that I haven't posted any brush reviews before so this will be my first! I don't know about you but makeup tools are very important to me for precise application as well as to achieve my desired results.

While I skip eye makeup at times when I get lazy, I make sure that I do not cut down on the time and steps when I do my base makeup.

Patricia's tip of the day:

Make sure you use a makeup base product prior to foundation or powder

to ensure that a smooth canvas to work on.

Among my stash of makeup brushes, the one that resembles the Sigma F45 Buffer Brush most would be this kabuki brush which I got from a random shop in Chinatown. Its the one that you see on the left in the picture below.

My thoughts:

As you can see, the Sigma F45 Buffer Brush is denser than the kabuki brush that I got from Chinatown. It is also much stiffer when I use it to buff loose powder onto my skin.

Initially, I didn't think that it wouldn't make much of a difference, whether is it stiff a not. But I was wrong! Sigma F45 Buffer Brush being denser actually allow me to achieve a more precise/even application for that flawless look! I'm not saying this only because Sigma sent me this brush but I am really liking this brush so much that I have been using it out of late. You have got to try it out yourself to believe it!

I have finally filmed a basic makeup tutorial that focus on base makeup since its one of the most requested one. This is pretty much of my everyday makeup routine, that's if I do wear makeup on that day.

Its really simple and you only need 5-10 minutes to get it done. I know that the quality of the video is really terrible but do bear with me till I get a proper camcorder or something. I did use Sigma F45 Buffer Brush in the video, so I figured that I would put this up so you girls can see for yourself how it works etc. Do watch it to find out more!

Like other Sigma brushes, Sigma F45 had a weird smell to it but it went away after I shampooed it twice with baby shampoo. During the first few applications, I did experience a bit of brush brittles shedding but it reduced after that. The brittles still shed but it was minimal, like say one or two strands of hair.

Patricia's 2nd tip of the day:

After swirling your brush with loose powder,

remember to tap off excess so as not to result in cakiness and to achieve that natural look.

I felt that the video doesn't really show the difference between before and after makeup hence here are the pictures. Don't freak out when you see my bare face without makeup okay? (;

You will see that before makeup, my face looks rather yellowish and dull. But after makeup, it has got that radiant glow. I didn't do anything to the pictures as always, I merely resized and added the watermark. Speaking of photo enhancements, I think I rather stick to the good old Photoshop which I have used for ages rather than Photoscape. Photoscape's really troublesome and it doesn't work on my MBP. I'm not trying to flaunt my Photoshop skills but honestly, I can make a Polaroid photo effect on Photoshop faster than Photoscape. I guess Photoscape would be ideal for beginners whom are not exposed to Photoshop yet.

Sorry for sidetracking, I was talking about how I looked more radiant after makeup. Do you want to know why? Do I hear, "Yes please! Patricia"? Here's it is!

Patricia's 3rd tip of the day:

Choose a loose powder with light-reflecting particles (slight shimmer is okay) to achieve that radiant glow on your face!

Be careful not to pile on too much if not you will look like a glitter bomb!

Instead of the usual repurchase, I think recommend would be more apt for brushes as they are likely to last for a long time compared to skincare or makeup products.

BodiBra: Boom Bra and Fat Banishing Vest

What is it:

I received these products about 2 months ago but I wanted to try and observe the effects for a longer period of time so as to give a better recount of my experience with BodiBra. Hence, that explains why this post is only up now.

The bra that I received was a simple design - black with lace.

Initially, I was kinda skeptical about the sizing of the bra as I thought, "How can one possibly get their size right without trying on personally?" But to my amazement, it fitted me perfectly! All I did was to let Bodibra know my measurements and the normal size that I wear. I am usually a 75B, but I could fit into Bodibra's 34/75D that they sent me!

As you can see from the picture above, unlike most bras, BodiBra has got 3 hooks instead of the usual 2 and the strap is also thicker, this is to provide more support.

I know that paddings is of a major concern to most ladies, but fret not because BodiBra's paddings are removable.

Apart from the bra itself, I also received a vest. At first, I thought that the vest is to further enhance the assets, then I realised that it also has got other purposes such as preventing me from sloughing and making my back slimmer.

Unlike the bra, the vest has got 2 hooks only.

When I first tried out Bodibra, I realized that my arms appeared thicker. FYI, I am rather conscious of my arms hence I rarely wear sleeveless tops. So I went ahead and emailed the Marketing Officer of BodiBra, Cerise whom told me that it is normal. She explained that it is because when worn, BodiBra makes the chest look bigger and the back thinner, therefore, it would create an illusion that the arms becomes fatter. She also advised that if I were to push the back fats towards the front, my arms would look thinner. I tried it out the second time and true enough, it did work.

Also, I did experience a bit of aching, especially on my shoulder when I wear BodiBra for the entire day. Cerise did advise me to try not to let the straps of the the bra and vest overlap each other if not it would cause extra pressure. She also pointed out that the bottom rim of the vest shouldn't be clasped too tight and that it should be under the cups of the bra.

Guess what's the function of the vest? Initially, I thought that it was only to eliminate the fats at the back but that's not all! It also helps to stabilize BodiBra so that the boobs would stay in place and enhance centering the bust line. But the best part of it is that it actually stop me from slouching. I always have this bad habit of slouching or not standing up straight and the vest reduced it because if I don't stand upright, my back would feel uncomfortable. I think this is also one of the reason why my back felt sore after wearing it the entire day because my back was upright for the whole day! Honestly speaking, this is one of the reason why I am so satisfied with Bodibra.

A lot of my girlfriends like to ask me why do I mostly cover up my assets or why don't I wear V-neck or tube dresses often, my answer would always be because I'm pretty conservative. Well, actually apart from being conservative, another reason why I don't wear them often enough is because... no matter what kind of bra that I have tried before, it doesn't give me the cleavage that I want!

I will show you what I mean, just look at the picture below.

I don't even have the slightest cleavage! Or maybe a little at most and the gap in between my assets are like so wide.

In terms of price wise, BodiBra is more affordable than other brands of body shaping bra in the market.

Here's a picture of me wearing BodiBra, you can see that it really helps to enhance my 'assets' and I finally have cleavage!

I was a little hesitant about posting the picture above initially because I thought it would be a little offensive. But I really did want to show you girls the effects of what BodiBra can do for you. Shiseido and Watsons Sale 2011

It was a rather impromptu decision to head down to Shiseido Sale yesterday. I had planned to go but then I couldn't find anyone whom was free to go with me, plus I thought I would try and save some money. Then, I saw Emily tweeting that she was going and before I knew it, we were exchanging SMS-es and then we headed down to the sale together. She's like my to-go sales buddy.

If you have followed me on Twitter, you would have know that the Shiseido sale was rather disappointing. My aim of going there is actually to get either the softener from the White Lucent range but I didn't see any there, probably it was sold out already or something. Hence, I grabbed the Shiseido White Lucent Trial Set.

This set consists of a cleansing foam, softener, emulsion and moisturizer and its only $15. I think its quite worth it, especially if you don't want to commit to the full-sized products. I remember each time I hang out with Abi, I would check out the Shiseido White Lucent range. But I did not get them as I could feel the pinch, even though she would tell me that they have a travel/trial set which is about $80+ (I think the size of the products in that set are bigger than those I got above).

Anyway, the trial set which I got consists of a moisturizer. They also have a trial set which comes with brightener cream. Although I would prefer lightweight/milk/lotion-consistency moisturizer normally, especially for day usage, I have learnt to appreciate cream-based moisturizers especially now that the weather is taking the turn to becoming colder which makes my skin more prone to dryness.

I'm quite excited to try this out and I probably will once I have finished my current skincare products. I will definitely post my thoughts on them once I have done so. So do check back yea? (:

The next product (or rather the other product) that I got from Shiseido sale is Cle de Peau Beaute Trial Set. Its $35 and I got this set for my Mom. Don't you agree that we ought to pamper our Moms every now and then especially when they take such good care of us 24/7? I mean, that's like the only occupation that never gets exempted from leave!

Cle de Peau is highly-raved by local makeup artist, Andy Lee. I always see him blogging about how wonderful this brand is but I have never ever gone up close to their counter over at Tangs to check out their products because honestly, its too out of my pocket-friendly range.

As a luxury skincare and makeup brand, Cle de Peau targets women from 30 years old onwards. Although I know Cle de Peau is more for anti-aging/matured skin, I did double check with the staff just to make sure before I got it.

As I am not very familiar with this brand, I did a bit of research online. Cle de Peau skincare comes in either fraiche or tendre. Fraiche is more lightweight and gives a fresh feeling while Tendre is richer and more creamy which is more moisturizing. All 4 products in the trial set that I got for my Mom are tendre, hence I believe it would benefit her skin.

Aqualabel liquid foundation, 2-way cake and casing were 3 for $20 (mix and match any)! Such a steal, isn't it? I wanted to get it initially but it was so crowded hence I changed my mind.

After paying for our products, Emily and I headed to Takashimaya to grab some lunch, we had Japanese noodles before we went to Watsons Ngee Ann City for Watsons sale.

The crowd at Watsons sale was more horrible than Shiseido but at least we didn't had to wait to get it like we did for Shiseido sale.

Guess what did I get?

MASKS!!!! I just can't get enough of facial masks and my Hello Kitty obsession (yea, it came back ever since I went to Hong Kong last year).

I did post a picture of these Hello Kitty masks before on my Twitter when I first saw them about a few ago. I was so tempted to get them then but I didn't cave in. Thank God I didn't because... it was BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free)! All the more to get it right? Shared with the deal with Emily so we both have one of each.

I was out with my friend, May the other day when she told me that Rick Genest, AKA Zombie Boy (the walking skeleton in the video) whom shot to fame in Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' video endorses a certain brand of concealer. I knew I had to check it out and I did immediately when I got back home.

Although the two products above are marketed in a way that to appeal to individuals whom wish to cover up their tattoos, I am actually more interested in its ability to cover up wrinkles, freckles, post-acne scars or pimples. I mean, think of it this way - if it can cover tattoos, it means its way beyond industrial strength and it should be able to cover other flaws, no?

I remember I was asking May if she would get the concealer and she was like, "No, I don't have much pimples, not that I need to conceal it."

The commercial above had triggered mixed responses from audiences. Of which it includes individuals saying that Zombie Boy is a piece of art himself and that he doesn't need to cover up his tattoos anyway. On the other hand, there are also people whom criticize him and calls him a freak. What's your opinion? I would love to hear from you!

My thoughts:

Even before receiving the press samples from Elicina, I have seen and heard ravings about it from my friends on Facebook or WOM. But you know, as a beauty blogger, I can be quite cynical at times in the sense that I don't usually trust reviews or any other product reviews until/unless I have tried it out myself. And then again, the price of Elicina's products aren't exactly what I would call pocket-friendly, especially for students whom survive on a fixed monthly allowance like me.

Another concern that I had was that Elicina's products contain snail extract. Initially, I was rather put off by the sound of that. Can you imagine, snail extract on my face? That just sounds so horrifying!

Before I share my experience with Elicina Xtreme Facial Mask, here's how it looks like when squeezed out of the tube.

Basically, you just spread it out evenly (as shown in the picture below) on your face. The picture below shows how it looks like when spread out evenly.

I was rather skeptical of this product initially so I tried it out on my Mom first. She's all game to be my guinea pig when it comes to trying out new products. Thumbs up for having a Mom like that! I ended the usual weekly facial(s) that I give her by applying Elicina Xtreme Facial Mask and I was sold when I saw her skin becoming smoother, brightened and her skin wasn't that dry anymore. Plus, she told me that she realized that her age spots looked as though as they have faded a little.

Feeling intrigued by what Elicina Xtreme Facial Mask have done for my Mom, I can't help but to try it on myself!

After applying the facial mask, I felt a bit of warming sensation which I believe is for detox purposes. The smell is actually quite bearable, in fact rather pleasant, contrary to what I thought. Upon washing off the mask after 10 minutes, I felt that my skin became smoother and brighten! In fact, my skin was so smooth that I couldn't stop touching it.

Overall, I think that its a great product. Its not your usual facial mask that would crack on your face when it dries. But I definitely think that it benefits mature skin more than it does for youthful skin. I'm saying this because my Mom has dry skin and of course wrinkles but after using Elicina Xtreme Facial Mask, her skin doesn't look that dry anymore and it did reduce the appearance of her wrinkles slightly.

Apart from Elicina Xtreme Facial Mask, I also received Elicina Eye Contour Cream XT. However, as I have syringoma, my dermatologist advised me not to use eye cream so I won't be able to review this. I have passed this to my Mom and I would probably update her thoughts on it once she have tried it out.

Hada Labo Cleansing Oil with High Purity Olive Oil

For those of you whom have been following my blog, you would know that I used to love cleansing oil when I was younger, then I steered clear of them when my acne became rather bad and relied on cleansing milk to remove my makeup. Currently, I'm hooked on cleansing water so read on to find out about my experience when I switch back to cleansing oil!

One of the key ingredient in Hada Labo Cleansing Oil is High Purity Olive Oil. Olive oil is really good for the skin. At times when I run out of make up remover, I would use olive oil to remove my makeup and its really effective! I also use olive oil as a treatment for my dry roots from time to time for silkier and shiny black hair!

My thoughts:

It melts away my makeup (bb cream and loose powder) immediately when I didn't really massage my face as much as usual.

When I rinsed my face with water, the cleansing oil started to emulsify and it could be washed off easily. It doesn't leaves any oily film or residue like other oil cleansers but I did follow up with my regular cleanser anyway just in case.

What's more, it didn't make my eyes cloudy when I tried to cleanse off my eye makeup!

For all you might know, I might just decide to switch back to oil-cleansers for good. They are best for removing all traces of makeup, just that I tend to shy away from them previously due to them being too oily and at times leaving a trace of oil on my face even after I had followed up with my cleanser. But Hada Labo Cleansing Oil sure did exceed my expectations and changed my perception about cleansing oil.
